What A Friend We Have in Jesus Waktu terasa begitu cepat berlalu, tidak terasa sudah hampir setahun saya di “sini,” saya masih ingat dengan jelas tahun yang lalu, ketika berada di dalam pesawat Batam-Yogyakarta. Di dalam hati dan pikiran saya terlintas sebuah lagu “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” . Lagu ini diciptakan pada tahun 1855 oleh Joseph Scriven. Dia mengalami pergumulan hidup yang amat menyesakkan, tetapi dapat menciptakan lagu yang begitu indah kepada Tuhan. Waktu muda, begitu banyak peristiwa yang menyedihkan hatinya. Calon istrinya tenggelam sehari sebelum mereka menikah. Seiring berjalanya waktu, ia pun menemukan tambatan hati dan hendak menikah, namun beberapa hari sebelum menikah tiba-tiba tunangannya jatuh sakit dan meninggal. Tidak hanya itu, bekerja jauh dari kampung halamannya, ia mendapat kabar bahwa ibu joseph mengalami sakit di rumahnya.
